Was I wrong not to hang out with my Mom two days in a row.

On Saturday, my parents had a BIG argument. All week they had been arguing about Hurricane Irene, which flooded our basement and ruined the carpet and some of the furniture. Mom was mad at Dad because he has been very nonchalant about getting it fixedleaving Mom to make all the arrangements.

Anyhow, I had a bad cold and had planned to stay in bed sleeping, but when I woke up Saturday morning I heard Mom screaming at the top of her lungs and she threw a trophy at my Dad. He stormed out the house and Mom came to my room and asked if I wanted to go with her to visit my brother (he lives an hour away).

I really wanted to stay in bed sleeping, but I was worried for Mom, soI got up and we spent the entire day shopping at the outlet mall near where my brother lives. We left at 10 a.m. and didn’t get back home until like 9 p.m.

I went to bed.

The next morning, Sunday, my Mom wanted to hang out again. I was still feeling sick, so I told her that I was going to stay in bed until around Noon, then I would get up. She seemed irritated and said okay.

I got up at 2 p.m. and went to my boyfriend’s house. My Mom called me around 5 p.m. and asked if I was still planning to go to the carnival in our area. I told her yes and asked if she was going to bring my Grandma like we had talked about. She snapped at me, “I AM TIRED. I AM NOT BRINGING HER BECAUSE I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT.” and she hung up.

My brother texted me later and said my Mom was upset that I didn’t hang out with her.

Was I wrong. I mean I spent all Saturday with her. Was it really wrong to want to spend Sunday with my boyfriend. Keep in mind I live at home and I spend time with my mother regularly. It’s not like I was visiting for a weekend.

I love my Mom but I still have a life AND I did get out of bed and hang out all day even though I had a sore throat, fever and cough
